Laie

Laie, Hawaii

Laie was once a place of refuge during the day's of ancient Hawaii. During the later half of the 19th century, missionaries migrated to Hawaii and eventually settled in Laie. The early settlers encouraged Hawaiian plantation workers to grow Kalo in mass production (Hawaii's staple food) and the encouragement has lasted through this day. Laie is a place in which more residents are now looking up to because of their lively hood and diligence for sustainability. Being sustainable is very important in this area because Laie is nestled on the far east region of Oahu and a 60 minute drive to Honolulu.

The Polynesian Cultural Center is an attraction for tourists visiting Oahu. Other attractions also include hiking to Laie falls and Laie Point.
