The Diamond Head State Monument, also known as Leahi, is possibly the most iconic landmark in Hawaii. The 760-foot volcanic tuff cone serves as a backdrop to the east of world famous Waikiki beach. More than 3,000 people visit the park per day to hike the historic trail to the summit. It is a moderately strenuous and steep hike approximately 0.8 miles from the trailhead. Diamond Head real estate is just as exclusive as the crater that was created about 300,000 years ago with stunning luxury homes and oceanfront condos for sale in limited supply.

Traveling east from Waikiki at the end of Kalakaua Avenue is a special area of real estate known unofficially as the Gold Coast. Located across Kapiolani Park, near the base of Diamond Head, the Gold Coast consists of several condominiums and cooperatives with breathtaking panoramic ocean and city views. All of the amenities that Waikiki has to offer is available to residents within minutes while being tucked away in a smaller neighborhood. You can literally smell the ocean air from most of the units in the area which is why many of these Diamond Head condos for sale are priced around $1,000 per square foot or higher. There are a limited amount of condos, low-rise buildings, and townhomes in areas just outside of this community, however you'll mostly find single family homes in the nearby neighborhoods of Kahala and Kapahulu.

Single family homes in Diamond Head are mostly executive and luxury properties. You may find charming homes built in the 1920's from the neighborhood's inception to modern high-end new construction. There are not many oceanfront homes in Diamond Head and the demand certainly drives the prices up in a limited inventory. Homes for sale in Diamond Head start at just over $2,000,000 at approximately $1,000 per square foot. Oceanfront and beachfront properties can command even higher prices, sometimes $3,000 per square foot or more depending on several factors which include location and exclusivity. Shopping and dining is easily accessible with Waikiki, Kaimuki, and Kahala Mall nearby.
